Remarks & Notes |
End of an era. What you see on this snowy and frigid day is one of the final movements of the Fayette Central Railroad. This tourist line has operated since Memorial Day 2006 over the Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad (formerly the B&O’s FM&P Subdivision). Due to increased traffic on the SWP the Fayette Central will no longer be able to operate. The small group of volunteers who made this operation a success did what many others couldn’t. I consider myself very fortunate to have not only ridden on this line but to have been a volunteer over the last twelve months. The men and women associated with this operation are some of the finest people I have ever known. Here you see is the FCRR S2 shove south on the Uniontown Industrial Track (old PRR). In the background you see the South West Pennsylvania RR formerly the B&O FM&P which ran between Connellsville PA and Fairmont WV. |
