Harper's Ferry, WV 8/31/2012 - At 10:37 p.m., the full moon casts a bright glow across this famous Civil War town as loaded autoracks race across the Potomac River behind CSX Q-226 and the Winchester local waits patiently for a clear signal to come off the Shenandoah Subdivision. D-791 is the nightly Winchester, VA to Brunswick, MD turn that hauls farm and construction commodities out of the fertile Shenandoah River valley which ends here at Harper's Ferry at its confluence with the Potomac River. The local sits on an older B&O bridge across the Potomac, with the oldest bridge's remains to the left, while Q-226 streaks past on the newest Potomac crossing built in 1931. In the background, headlights from automobiles on U.S. Route 340 move along the hillside below Loudoun Heights. 30 second exposure, ISO 160, f/4.
