The Brienz Rothorn Bahn (BRB) has 3 generations of cogwheel steamlocomotives in active service. H 2/3 # 5 from the oldest generation was built in 1891 by SLM Winterthur for the Wengernalpbahn (WAB) and came to the BRB in 1912, when the WAB was electrified. System Brown with vertical lever transmission. Note: the position of the cylinders is high and next to the boiler. This enables a shorter chassis design and optimises the axle positioning and thereby improves the power stroke characteristics. The locomotive was revised during last winter in the BRB workshop and looks nearly new. It is in service regularly during summer on wednesday with the "Würstlibummler", a train with extended journey time and a short brake on Planalp for eating the sausages, which were boiled in a pot heated by the boiler water.
