On a spectacular morning in the Wasatch Mountains, the Rio Grande Zephyr train #18 emerges from the famous Gilluly horseshoe curve between mileposts 659 and 658 on the ascent to Soldier Summit. The curve is a fabulous place to watch and photograph trains with a complete absence of car and truck noise, and (from what I have learned) the appearance of an occasional black bear. Luckily, I have yet to encounter one myself!
