An eastbound Rio Grande manifest takes the center siding at Gilluly to allow passage of the fast approaching Rio Grande Zephyr. The train is typical of the D&RGW on Soldier Summit in the 1970s with an SD45, a GP35, and two GP30s for power, and no helpers required. Note the signs of recent work on the big fill over Soldier Creek, a problem the Union Pacific continues to deal with in contemporary operations.
