Traffic on the road is very quiet this morning, unlike the parallel Union Pacific main line which is humming with trains. As seen from inside a long-abandoned gas station along the old Lincoln Highway (later, U.S. Highway 30) at James Town (west of Green River), Wyoming, a UP freight climbs Peru Hill on the morning of March 13, 2012. The skeletons of no longer-needed gas pumps still stand out front, waiting for customers that will never come. This image was inspired by a similar Joel Jensen photograph taken in 1999, and the gas pumps are still there today!
