Two of the four trouble plagued CNW RS-27's rest on the turntable at Council Bluffs. The CNW had many problems with these units and they only lasted from March 1962 until February 10, 1966 on the CNW. They were traded in on four C425's that performed much better. The C425's lasted until late summer 1986, so at least the CNW got a lot of mileage out of them. Three of the four RS-27's ended up on GB&W after bumming around as Alco leasers for a few years. Amazingly 2 of them ended up as the last RS-27's running, being sold to Minnesota Commercial after the WC bought the GB&W. As far as I know Minnesota Commercial still operates them, hard to imagine after their less than resounding success on CNW. No photographer information on slide, it has been in my collection for years.
