| The farmlands of the “Swartland” (the black country - named for the colour of its rich soil) surround the daily weekday freight from Malmesbury to the PPC cement factory at De Hoek, as it nears the summit of the climb from Rust siding, before drifting downgrade to the town of Moorreesburg. |
