The headlight from westbound U944 pierces the crisp night air and silhouettes two relics of the past; the intact code-line and three-track C&O signal bridge guarding the West End of the Pemberville Center Siding. Eastbound Q241 is lined up on track two and the two trains would meet less than a mile from our location.
An ongoing/growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome, but seldom seen beauty of railroads because most of us don't go out after sundown or before sunrise. From dusk to dawn, lights are on! (And I continue to find new "Lights In The Night"!)
Photos showing the railroad pole lines. The pole line used four basic electrical circuits - telegraph, telephone, signaling, and power. Modern technologies of fiber optics, microwave, radio, satellite, and computers have been replacing the pole lines.
