Remarks & Notes |
The class 52 "Western"l locos were among the most loved British diesels of all time.Built at Swindon and Crewe between 1961 and 1964,these hydraulic machines handled all the Western Regions expresses up until the 1970s.The 74 locos in the class were all named, and here is D1004 "Western Crusader" taking a breather at Plymouth Laira depot on a Sunday afternoon in March 1969.Several of the class are now preserved. |
