Using Andy Leffler's recent photo taken in Raleigh, NC on October 20, 2011 of NS 2545 handling a train at Boylan Interlocking as a reference, http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=378729&nseq=7, we revisit this same location some 46 years earlier. It's late September 1965, and Seaboard passenger, mail, & express train No. 4 hits the (original) Norfolk Southern diamond at Raleigh Tower. SDP35 1107 trails along with a normal mix of PRR headend X29's, heavyweight headend equipment, and the usual RF&P coach on the rear. The scene has changed somewhat in 46 years ... the connection from the old NS has been realigned, signals have been upgraded, the telltale is gone, the bridge I took this photo from (at age 16) has been replaced, Raleigh Tower is long gone, but ... the kudzu is still alive and well.
