The NS "class unit" for the former Conrail standard cab C40-8s leads a southbound coal train through Wirtz. NS 8300 received an early repaint, considering that Conrail had been gone less than a year when this image was taken. This was also one of the few times I managed to catch red markers burning after the Conrail split.
