| 'Scots Guardsman' has just passed the site of what once was Goose Hill Junction (just beyond the distant bridge). Here the Midland Railway main line once diverged southward in a long, deep cutting. The Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway route to Wakefield continued westward from this point and the evening 'Scarborough Spa Express' is seen here on these metals. Old stone L&Y boundary markers still lurk in the undergrowth here as yet undiscovered by 'souvenir' hunters! |
