Remarks & Notes
This image would be the very first of many images I got of Conrail. We literally stumbled across these two former LV C628s making a move in Wilkes Barre, PA on April 9, 1976. In some ways, I guess it shows why Conrail had to be created. Yard tracks were choked with weeds and trees were growing up in the gauge. Industries that had once provided the LV with revenue were past their prime and in decline. Even notice the locomotive pilot, void of any MU hoses. Likely, shop forces were in "Rob Peter to Pay Paul" mode when it came to lashing up a set of locomotives. Times had been tough for the roads making up Conrail.
