Remarks & Notes |
A Union Pacific Savage coal load heads west through a reconfigured Lakota Junction about five miles northwest of Provo, Utah. Historically this location featured a crossing at grade of Union Paciific's old Provo Subdivision with Rio Grande's double track Subdivision 6 main. Today it features Union Pacific's (ex-D&RGW) double track Provo Subdivision and UTA's new FrontRunner commuter rail line (the two tracks curving off to the right on the old UP right of way). The railroads aren't the only mode of transport undergoing changes here. Interstate 15 (in the background) is in the middle of a rebuild into a super freeway making the chasing of trains through Utah Valley a big challenge to say the least! |
