For my 2,000th image uploaded to Railpictures.net, I have posted a scan of my very first Kodachrome transparency, shot back in October of 1973. My parents gave me a new 'Cosmic 35' camera for my 12th birthday, and we drove up Spanish Fork Canyon to try it out. While we waited at the US 89 overpass at Thistle for the Rio Grande Zephyr to arrive from Salt Lake City, the 'Ford Fast' priority auto parts train rounded the bend into the morning sunshine. Check out the interesting box cars on this train with fallen flag roads like the Detroit, Toledo, & Ironton, the Western Pacific and the Norfolk & Western. While the optical quality of the Cosmic 35 was less than ideal, it set the stage for a lifetime hobby of railroad photography that continues to this day.
