A red and silver BNSF 'warbonnet' C44-9W emerges from the deep shadows of the Red Narrows in Spanish Fork Canyon. This particular angle and subject had been on my 'to do' list for several years. Things came together Sept. 10th and I got my red and silver leader with bright aluminum TILX coal hoppers to boot! Anyhow, this Union Pacific train was loaded at Savage, UT (near Price) and will interchange with the BNSF Railway at Barstow, CA. Not only is this a Union Pacific coal train in disguise, but it features DC traction GE power making it about as unorthodox as it could be in contemporary bulk train operating practice along UP's Provo Subdivision in Utah.
