| A coal empty bound for the Skyline mine emerges from the Jordan River Narrows approaching the long deep cut at Mesa. The grade in the upper quarter of this image belonged to the Salt Lake & Utah Railroad, an interurban line abandoned in the late 1940's. Ironically, UTA is building commuter rail through the narrows today to serve much the same purpose as the old SL&U did prior to it's abandonment. |
