With sunset a scant 15 minutes away, Valley Railroad Mikado #40 pushes her PSX 40 consist south across the icy waters of Chester Creek enroute to Deep River Landing. There, she'll utilize the passing track to run around her train and couple to the south end of the consist, for a tender-first run back to Essex Depot. The operation you see here was her last daylight trip of 2009. Later that evening, her fire would be dropped and the Valley Railroad would cease steam operations until April of 2010.
