The sun has just set on Newark, but there’s plenty of action on three converging rail systems. In the center, Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor line is hosting a NJ Transit train, which is a few minutes out of Newark Penn station heading to New York Penn Station. The line on the right is NJ Transit’s Morris & Essex line with a double decker car train from Dover to NY Penn. This train will enter the Corridor Line just to the right. On the left side is a PATH train that has just left the maintenance yard and is heading for Journal Square and eventually Manhattan from there. While the action is all passenger, there is a lone tank car left by CSX and waiting for a pick up by the Morristown and Erie RR.
