| A very impressive bridges landscape is found in the Dala gorge between Leuk and Varen. The 79 meter long double track bridge of the SBB Simplon line (since 2004; before the single track line was curving along the bank of the Rhone river), is crossed by a train with 100 miles per hour. The passengers can see daylight for less then 2 seconds between two long tunnels! In the background over a hundred metres high and 209 meters long road bridge in steel / concrete composite construction of the road from Leuk to Varen (since 1991). |
