Remarks & Notes |
Northbound NS 938 splits two reminders of the town’s railroad past as it rushes north with nice cut of racks for the SMS who’s NE-1 crew are patiently waiting for them in Delanson 60 miles to the north of here. Unadilla which mean “Meeting Place” “as a place where to rivers meets” in Indian Dialects is situated along the Susquehanna River on the southern tip of Otsego County. Today’s CP line splits two very historical relics of a once bygone era on the D&H. On the opposite side of the train is a still intact and very impressive 1866 freight house built out stacked stone. The Depot to the right is much younger and was built in 1904. Unadilla is also synonymous with those who race motocross or follow it. The first professional race took place in 1969 in neighboring New Berlin, NY. |
