Remarks & Notes |
After dumping rain across northern Wyoming and southern Montana all morning, storm clouds are starting to break up as a loaded coal train from Spring Creek Mine struggles to climb the 1% grade out of Decker on wet rails. Even with a two-unit DPU on the rear, the engineer later admitted to the dispatcher that if he had known how little traction his engines would be able to produce he would have waited at Decker for a helper to be sent from Sheridan. The Wyoming-Montana state line lies about ten cars behind the power, and in the distance looms one of the draglines at Decker Mine. |
