One of the undoubted highlights of my visit to Fuxin was the early morning 'paddy' train transporting miners to Minzhu mine on the eastern outskirts of Fuxin. On a perfect, crystal clear and still morning SY 1320 lays a shadow across the fields, her exhaust catches the rays of the rising sun and all was well in my world!
Fuxin still operates a fleet of SY's and recent reports suggest it is still a worthwhile steam destination, but by spring 2010 all this may well be history.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
