On my first visit to the lovely Strathspey Railway in Scotland, I was fortunate to find this fine 0-6-0 tank, No.17 'Braeriach' in steam. She was built in 1935 by Andrew Barclay of Kilmarnock and was originally supplied to at the Wemyss Private Railway in Fifeshire until her retirement some 40 years ago. She now hauls passengers rather than the coal for which she was intended. Arriving from the highland resort of Aviemore, her attractive livery compliments the pretty, wooded approach to Boat of Garten Station.
