Remarks & Notes |
Trona Railway SD9 #2001 quietly sits outside the railroad's shop building, as there is no more life left in this old unit. Due to a main generator failure the railroad decided it wasn't cost effective to fix the problem so the unit is used only for parts now. Prior to its retirement it was utilized for switching carloads of soda ash and borax products in the Trona and Argus plants. Trona's shop personnel choppped the nose and painted the unit in house, after it was purchased. This locomotive began life with the Southern Pacific, and wore #4419 when it was eventually retired from their roster and bought by the Trona Railway. |
