Remarks & Notes

Norfolk Southern borrowed two C&NW C44-9Ws (8601 + 8623) for testing during November 1994. In addition to adhesion testing on Starkey Hill in Roanoke, the units also made an over the road trip from Roanoke to Belews Creek, NC. Seen here headed south near Boones Mill.
