Remarks & Notes

Passenger stations and agencies were once a common aspect of lineside detail. The 1908-built AT&SF depot in Mountainair is on the National Register of Historic Places and fortunately remains as evidence of a bygone era and attention to aesthetic detail (albeit in pursuit of business). BNSF 4986 is nearing the summit and about ready to go into dynamics for its long descent into the Rio Grande River valley.
