Remarks & Notes |
Tri-Met's WES commuter rail service operates through a number of communities in the I-5 corridor south of Portland. I happened to be in the area last August while testing of the signal system was taking place and, arriving at Tualatin station to photograph the train during a simulated stop, was invited into the cab to take a quick peek at the modern DMU's control stand. I made use of the opportunity to capture this view looking out the 1001's windshield towards the north end of the gantlet track at MP 36. The short stretches of gantlet trackage at Tualatin and Tigard were necessary so that high-level ADA-compliant platforms could be constructed adjacent to the track while still allowing PNWR freight trains to pass by without risk of striking the platform edge. |
