| On a later summer morning twin ARR RDCs accelerate south from "downtown" Talkeetna to pick up passengers at the "summer" depot where the Denali Star makes it's daily stop. After picking up daytrippers (the locals load up their gear here in town at the section house) at the main depot they will reverse directions and head north into the wilderness. Beside the Budds can be seen twin GP40-2s that are serving in work train service. These classic Budds (off NYC and NYNH&H vintage) are in their last summer of service in this photo and are all slated for sale this winter. Truly the end of an era.... |
