This is the landscape of my youth. The embankment from which this view was taken was my haunt. Me, my bicycle, a can of 'pop' a few sandwiches and an endless procession of trains. Mostly westbound full of coal and eastbound returning empties occasional parcels or passenger trains but this was principally a freight line. The factory chimney is that of the John Cotton jute mill, still going strong in 2008. Behind the camera is the MPD. Image 233778 shows that view from the same spot.
