NEW SCAN UPLOADED Feb 06 2008. The last steam locomotive built for British Railways, 92220 Evening Star. This was built in 1960 and retired after five years work. It was placed in the National Railway Museum. For a few years it worked main line specials and is seen here turning on the triangle at Leeds whilst working one of these. It has not been steamed since 1988 and is on static display at the NRM, York. It is unlikely to seemain line action again, since Network Rail don't like the centre driving wheels, which are flangeless, passing over turnouts and crossovers.
