| Dormant since 1984, the [first] Lake Matawan Trestle was originally built by the Freehold and Atlantic Highlands Railroad in 1877 which later came under ownership of the CNJ and ultimately, Conrail. I believe this is the second or third bridge built to span the lake and was rebuilt with wood as well. |
