This locomotive and 2-10-4 ATSF 5021 are sitting in front of the old SP Sacramento Locomotive Works boiler shop building. Eventually they will be restored for display.

3 SD40-2s have just dropped off a string of empties at this coal loading tower and are running around the cars.
The crew of this train was so bored after 5 hours of sitting in the siding, that they invited me up into the cab for a few minutes until their crew van showed up (and yes we had permission).

The AOK runs some very clean locomotives.
Southern and now NS must have had some bad experiences at grade crossings, such as fatalities among their crews, to make them order control stands like this. You can't see much of anything runnin... (more)
