CSX borrowed UP's Challenger 3985 to celebrated the 50th anniversary of the annual Santa Train in 1992. The railroad dressed it up as a Clinchfield locomotive for this occasion.

This was the Yancey Railroad's bridge over the Toe River at Kona, back when it was still standing. Unfortunately, the bridge was first damaged by a bulldozer and later burned by vandals.

When I arrived at Hamlet this day I found this line of stored GP16 units awaiting disposition. I had become accustomed to seeing them on locals around the region, and hated to see them go.
