As an Amtrak zips by, a Metra approaches the Belmont station.
The MPRCB roars through the town of West Chicago with UP 2001, 3300 (favorite paint scheme), 1995, and UPY 735.
This was an excellent way to start off the trip! EJ&E 663/675 idle in the background while the UYMPWC crosses the diamond before it.
This years lineup stars UP 1995, UP 7372, NS 2121, IHB 4012, Cn and IC private cars, CN 103, BRC 564B, BRC 564, and CP 8800. Later that morning Metra showed up with METX 425, a bi-level cab car, a... (more)
An interesting find here sitting on the spur track at West Chicago. A Harsco rail grinder sits here un-manned but surrounded by UP MoW trucks.
The Chicago Fort Wayne and Eastern power sits idling away along with IHB and BNSF power at the IHB Riverdale Yard in Riverdale.
And the day ended... ATSF (999)758 brings up the rear of Y HOD102. I guess HOD102 and CHI102 are not related.
This was nice. The other railfans were not happy to see the heritage unite trailing, but I liked seeing an oldie leading! Notice the conductor is holding a sign. The sign says, "Go Away!"
A nice surprise brings up the rear of #6 this afternoon.
A very very rare CSX in a Pre YN1 scheme is paired up with an NS unit heading this manifest through LaGrange.
Talk about a sweet lashup! CNW 8701 leads a UP C40-8, two ex. CNW's, and a rare UPY GP15AC!
Very very rare! Usually EJ&E tactonite trains run between Eola and Joliet and in the winter. This train ran in the summer, from Waukegan to Joliet!
EJ&E 312 and T-2 switch cars around the EJ&E yard. Note to the right, a very rare test car, EJ&E #003!
This was a nice surprise. I knew 7695 was in the area, but I didn't expect to see it, let alone leading.
