A lucky catch! As a ballast train approaches, an empty Northshore Mining empty train heads into the photo - getting two trains at the same time on this railroad is pretty difficult!

Leased NREX 5418 (built for the L&N; later Seaboard and Canadian Pacific) leads a train up from the dock on Lake Superior.

Recently released from overhaul and sporting a new paint job and nose lettering, Sd40-3 651 leads SD18 1231, SD28 1234, and leased Alaska GP40-2 3004 southboud near Silver Bay with 155 loads.

On a road dominated by SD40 type units, to catch a pair of veterans leading a loaded ore train is a real treat. SD18 1231 and rare SD28 1236 have the honors today.

One of three rare SD28s on NSM heads back to Babbitt after using locomotive air to clean switches at Norshor Junction. Sister 1235 is undergoing a complete rebuild at NRE.
