Amtrak's eastbound Southwest Chief crosses over from the BNSF Transcon to the Raton Pass at Dalies Jct. on a beautiful southwest morning.

Idling just west of Belen, a California bound stack train waits for signals to proceed to Gallup on the BNSF Transcon.

In the evening light, an eastbound stack train arrives from the west. The train will make a brief stop at Belen to fuel before continuing east on the BNSF Transcon towards Chicago.

The evening train from Albuquerque has terminated at Belen Junction on the BNSF New Mexico DOT Subdivision. To the left is the BNSF Transcon to Gallup.

After fueling at Belen, a westbound stack train passes a loading facility outside of town as she prepares to traverse the scenic BNSF Transcon to Gallup and points west to California.

Approaching Dalies Junction from the west, a manifest train is cresting the grade and will soon be in dynamics for the run downhill to Belen.

As the sun rises over the Manzano Mountains, whose peaks are 3500 feet above the valley floor, a hot intermodel is nearing the crest of the long grade from Belen.
