So great to catch one of these on a train, new and clean.
The simplified paint scheme is not as nice as the earlier one but this unit looks well maintained and that's always pleasing.
Back in more prosperous days, this unit was looking good but was probably already surplus as the caps on the stacks would suggest. Already there was a bunch of newer EMD products on the property.
Hazy, hot and humid and Santa Fe's doing as only Uncle John could, out on the praire.

Well equipped and in one of the finest simple classic looking paint schemes around.
These are Ts but are unique to AN because unlike CSX Ts these have no D/B and no centrifugal air filtering.

Can we call this a "Butthead Bonanza" looking good and sounding great with an inbound coal train.
Nicely equipped and beautifully maintained. Check out those switch target lamps. We miss them.
Empty coal train may be having brake problems.
