The Quincy Railroad forwards empty log flats to the UP interchange at Wendel. The cars were used to haul fire salvage logs from Arizona to Sierra Pacific's sawmill at Susanville.
Yard and local power fills the service track at Knoche Yard, a joint agency yard shared by both the KCS and MILW. The KCS SW-7's carry the smallest cab numbers that I have seen on any railroad.
A train of fire-damaged salvage logs from Arizona crosses US 395 on the former SP Susanville branch. The logs would be milled at the Sierra Pacific plant in Susanville.
