On a crisp Colorado morning, Engineer John Hillier highballs through Cascade Canyon with locomotive #481, on train 461. The 8:15 "Silverton Mixed."
The line is very steep at this point for a short distance. Just before coming into view 482 spun its drivers but the engineer caught it immediately and avoided a stall.
