Coasting under the steep cliffs at War Eagle, NS 9855 passes the slide detector fence and MTY's at War Eagle on its way to Williamson.

With a MTR (Mountaintop Removal) job (a/k/a as a "strip" mine) looming in the background, NS 7581 pulls a coal drag through the town coal built, Vulcan, which was owned by the N&W at one time.
NS 7581 rolls into West Virginia after traveling through Hatfield Tunnel. The Hatfield Tunnel is named after the Hatfield's of "The Feud" fame, as they owned property in this area.
Newer power awaits a crew for some North bound coal in Shelby Yard.
Note the rise of the grade beginning here, near the end of the old C & O line, and the beginning of the Clinchfield. And I think they could use another No Trespassing sign here...
