A variety of locomotives and parts await work at Norfolk Southern's Juniata Shops in Altoona. Pictured here is a C40-9 that will be rebuilt as an AC44C6M, an RP-E4C, GP40-2, SD40-2, and a switcher... (more)
On a sunny September day, Norfolk Southern's executive F-Units sit in Altoona awaiting their next assignment. Photo was taken from NS property with an escort and proper PPE.
Among the lineup are CR 9240 ex-CNJ 1060 NW2, CR 3677 ex-EL 2571 GP35, an unidentified ex-PC 6-axle Alco Century, PC 7862 GP38, and CR 3649 ex-RDG 3649 GP35.
Prior to receiving her fancy yellow and gray paint scheme, DC to AC Conversion Unit 1801 was on the turn table facing off with RP-E4U slug 962 at the NS Altoona Shops.
An RP-E4U slug awaits repairs at the NS Shops for repairs. I counted no less than twenty-six locomotives waiting for repairs at the Juniata Shops this day.
