SD45-2 5693 gives the assisting power needed to bring this long freight over the loop

With the harsh curvature of the Tehachapi Mountains crossing behind it, BNSF's Z-RICWSP works up the last few miles toward the summit on straight track, as it approaches the town of Tehachapi.

This is a helper unit on an eastbound and should be pushing but may be dead, that was not uncommon.

We're not sure why this guy is running light eastbound. I haven't seen much of this angle but I like it.

Hey, it's hot out here. Honestly I don't remember if this guy was a crew member or what. Anyway this EB freight is pulling on the main while another SP WB waits in the siding.

ATSF Caboose 999079 completes a heavy freight, fighting over the Loop. Behind the caboose, an SD 45-2 (here not visible) gives some assisting power.

4 locos head a southbound train at Monolith. Unfortunately I have no details of the locos, not even their owner! This was a pre-breakfast photo, and I was glad I made the effort.
