Steam vents out of 3985 in the early morning

A close up and personal view of the running gear on UP 3985. Personally, UP locomotives are my favorite, because they are dirty and oily. They look like a real locomotive, and not a museum piece.

UP 3985 storms northbound, just north of Roseville at Sunset Whitney, on it's way to Dunsmuir.

In the early morning, 3985 blows some steam as it heads to the mainline for it's departure to Portland

UP 3985 climbs the short hill south of Oroville, on it's way to Roseville from Portola.

UP 3985 makes a back up move past the Roseville Amtrak depot, after having just completed it's trip from Portola.
