CP 5920 has called the Detroit Lakes sub home now for several weeks.
It all goes down hill from here. After this picture, my 18-55mm lens quit working, and the battery was dead on the railfan wagon. What joy.
This mornings wayfreight heads north with a cut of cars bound for the small town of Erskine.
An early morning 290 heads east toward a meet at Forada as the sun starts to burn away the haze. With only one working unit, and 7,100 feet, this train isn't breaking any speed records.

CP 6038 handles a few empty tie gondolas two miles south of Alexandria. Those ugly trackside piles have temporarily ruined more than a couple photo locations.
Todays 490 consists of not much more than reefers and autoracks. The bridge in the background is interstate 94.
While other railroads sideline their older equipment, CP keeps them busy, like these two, leading a lengthy 490 east through Alexandria.

Exactly 48 hours ago, the CP 6027 led the 290 east through Alex. Tonight, it has the 592. Totals: 2 engines, 1 car.
My first shot taken right in Alexandria. All others have been taken north of town. This one is between 6th and 8th Ave.
