South Tynedale railway opened its new extension on Sunday and so many people wanted to ride the first train they had to add an extra coach and have a banking engine.
A pacer unit crosses the 1849 High Level bridge which crosses the river Tyne. In the background are the swing bridge, built in 1872, the Tyne bridge 1926 and the Millenium Bridge 2000.
