Intermodal speeds across a blanket of fresh ballast as the old Western Railway of Alabama mainline gets some attention.

Spending a couple hours on a windy bridge in frigid temperatures was a small price to pay to see two faded old coal warriors leading a train of intermodal and auto racks.

The winter afternoon light warms up most of the hues in this image, but nearly blows out the Scotchlite striping on the locomotive on this Tulsa-bound freight.

Working customers on the northeast side of town, this crew has run out of time, and is waiting for a van to take them back to Cherokee Yard. Their locomotive was delivered to AT&SF in June 1969.
