After a long day chasing N&W 611, the three of us head West towards home and decided to stop to grab a shot of these two manifest freights meeting at Kumis control point.

On a gorgeous December Afternoon, NS empty grain train 51R is seen heading west on the Christiansburg Division with a squeaky clean BNSF on point.

The NS 37Q heads west out of Roanoke.

The NS 233 rolls west through Elliston while putting on a nice smoke show.

The NS 39Q rolls west through Elliston side by side with the NS 233.

NS 758 with the NKP heritage unit in trail rolls eastbound on the former Virginian Railway mainline past a picturesque farm seen at CP Kumis east of Elliston, VA.

This unusual crossing signal still works correctly at an apparently unused private crossing. The lights did go out when a westbound freight approached.
