On the first day of fall it's a 100°F+ afternoon while an inbound shuttle hauls ore from the Ray Mine to the ASARCO copper smelter in Hayden, Arizona.

An empty OT-1 has just left Hayden yard and is heading to the Ray mine for loading.
A one-car local heads west through Kearny. The large amount of power is needed as the local will be returning with cars for the San Manuel railroad in addition to the CBRY's normal loads.
Copper Basin Railway #301 leads the morning ore train back to the dumper in Hayden. Due to a shutdown at the smelter this was the only train that would run that day.
The OT-1 (Ore Train 1) is eastbound at Tilbury Road crossing in Kearny. Some nice old sports cars happened to be parked in the right place for the photo.
